Ayala Jaacov

Israel

Ayala Yaakov Galina is a dancer and senior teacher of dance and movement and Pilates and yoga, she is married to Barak, and a mother of two sons and three grandchildren.

Ayala was born and raised in Kibbutz Kfar Menachem near Rehovot and began dancing at the Bat Dor dance company at the age of 15.

During her military service in the years 1980-1982, she danced at the Rina Sheinfeld Dance Theater, after which she was accepted to the workshop next to the Kibbutz Dance Company at Kibbutz Ga’aton, where she danced for about three years. She performed around the country, dancing with the Kibbutz Company and with choreographers from all over the world.

In 1985 she was accepted into the Batsheva 2 company (like today’s ensemble) and performed around the country and with choreographers from around the world.

Since 2014 Ayala has been dancing with the Rina Sheinfeld Dance Theater, with whom she performed in many dance pieces, particularly at the Susan Dellal Dance Center.

Working with Rina and the company is very unique, there is a lot of freedom to create, to practice improvisation, and for self-expression.

As part of Susan Dellal’s 30th anniversary celebrations, she performed with the Rina Sheinfeld Theater with international opera singer Barbara Heinigan and guitarist Nadav Lev.

In 1985, Ayala left the kibbutz and has since lived in the city of Givatayim near Tel Aviv.

Dancing for Ayala is the way to express herself in the world. When she dances there is nothing in the world other than this moment of joy, freedom and happiness.
