Asier Edeso Eguia is a Spanish dancer and choreographer born in 1986 in San Sebastian (Spain). He lives in Nice and works in Les Ballets de Montecarlo as a dancer.
He started his dance studies in the 1994 in a private school in San Sebastian, under the direction of Mentxu Medel. He later moved to Madrid at the age of 15 to continue his studies in the Scaena Ballet school in Madrid, under the direction of Carmen Roche and he finally graduated at the Royal Ballet Upper school in London in 2005.
He started his professional career as a dancer in the year 2005-2006 with the Scottish Ballet, under the direction of Ashley Page. From 2006-2008 he joined Le Ballet du Rhin, directed by Bertrand D’at. He performed various works of the Director/Choreograph and guest artist like Maurice Béjart, Jo Stromgren, Lucinda Childs, George Balanchine, William Forsyhte and Jacopo Godani.
Since 2008, he is a dancer of Les Ballets de Montecarlo directed by Jean-Christophe Maillot. He has danced most of the ballets of the director like La Belle, Roméo et Juliette (one of the two acolytes), Cendrillon (Superintendent of pleasure), Le Songe ( one of the artisans), Scheherezade, Faust (Lucifer), LAC (Friend of the prince, one of the two Archangels), Choré (Assistant of the director), Casse-Noisette Compagnie, Altro canto I and Altro Canto II, Opus 40 and Opus 50, Men’s dance for woman, The Taming of the Shrew (Grumio).
He has also worked during these years a broad repertoire in the company: Prodigal Son and Violin Concerto (George Balanchine), Body Remix and CY Twombly Somehow (Marie Chouinard), The Rite of Spring (Maurice Bejart) (V.Nijinsky), New Sleep (William Forsythe), Dearest Earthly Friend (Marco Goecke), Le Corps Du Ballet (Emio Greco), True and false Unicorn and L’Enfant et les Sortilèges (Jeroen Verbruggen), Tales Absurd-Fatalistic vi(sions predominate (Natalia Horecna), Memento Mori (Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui), Atman (Goyo Montero), Petrouchka (Johan Inger), The lavender Follies (Joseph Hernandez).
Asier has also research his own language through choreography, creating his first solo piece Ersatz for `Les Imprévus’ (Young Choreographers) of Les Ballets de Montecarlo. He has also created Surname for a Gala in Brazil.
Since 2017 he develops a choreographic work with Mimoza Koike as a part of the program ‘Pas Croisés’, a collaboration between The Ballets de Monte-Carlo and the Musée National Marc Chagall, creating 8 different performances such as (R)each, Créa, De Natura…
In 2015, he becomes an active member of the Logoscope, an artistic association in Monaco. He would be part of the installation-performance ‘Révolution Agraire’ co-created by Mimoza Koike, Bruno Roque and Agnès Roux. He would also co-created the piece ‘Exit Paradise’ with Mimoza Koike, Agnès Roux, Ilia Vasilev-Osokin and Jossia Jeanne Micheline.
