Ivana Messina is a performer whose creations move between music, dance and theatre.

Her training has included theatre, dance and music, following advanced training workshops such as with Joan Woodbury, Alberto del Saz and Simona Bucci of the Alwin Nikolais company, with Fernando Suels Mendosa of the Pina Bausch company and with Juliana Pires Neves and Quan and the Ballet C de la B company, with Mamadou Dioume historical actor of Peter Brook’s company, Lena Lessing and Doris Hics teachers of Strasberg method at the Actor Studio of New York, the Big Art Group of New York, LiberamenteUnico theatre group of Turin directed by Barbara Altissimo.

As for music, her meeting with Maestro Maurizio Colonna is fundamental, and her extensive practice in the sphere of southern Italian folk music with traditional musicians who are very representative of the Calabrian folk music scene, such as Piero Crucitti and Mico Corapi.

Her first songwriting work is the “Rosso Caffeina” album, composed of songs written for a play by that name and inspired by the poetry collection “Mistero Partenopeo” by Argia Coppola.

In 2019 she founded the duo MaMé with the musician and actress Martina Spalvieri. MaMé deals with song-theatre creations and debuts in 2019 with the show “Tentativi Vergini di stare al mondo”.
